Social Media Tips
-
SHARE THE EVENT LINK
First, find your event on the nfhsnetwork.com. From the event page, click the red “SHARE” button underneath the video player. You can either choose the social media platform you want to share to directly, or click “Copy Link” and paste it to a different platform. Sharing the direct link ensures your followers have immediate access to the event.
-
INCLUDE A PHOTO
When you share the event link, a photo should automatically generate for Facebook and Twitter, making your post visually appealing. If you are posting to Instagram, upload a photo of your own or a graphic that’s included in the Success Kit. Don't forget to paste the event link in your bio and mention in your post to "Check the link in bio" for the game link. High-quality images or graphics can significantly increase engagement on your posts.
-
INCLUDE YOUR OWN CAPTION
In the caption, mention the sport, level, gender, team names, game date/time, and any other important information about the event that your followers should know (e.g., Homecoming game, Senior Night, etc.). Personalizing your caption can draw more attention and make the post more engaging. Consider adding a call to action like "Don't miss out!" or "Join us live!"
-
TAG OTHER ACCOUNTS
Always tag the NFHS Network in your post to increase visibility. Additionally, be sure to tag the social media handles of the schools featured in the event, as well as any specific team accounts they might have. This helps amplify your reach and can encourage those accounts to share your post to boost visibility and engagement. For example, tag school districts, local news outlets, or relevant community pages.
-
USE HASHTAGS
Before you click that "share" button, include hashtags so other accounts can find your post. Popular hashtags include #TexasFootballPlayoffs, #FridayNightLights, #VolleyballSzn, etc. Hashtags make your content discoverable to a wider audience beyond your followers. Research trending hashtags related to your event to maximize reach. Don’t forget to use local and school-specific hashtags to engage your community.
